Due to the pandemic, the 17th Firebird Developers Day could not be done presentialy, as it usually happens. But I could not break the 16 years tradition of yearly conferences! Dificult times requires adaption and changes, so this time the conference was done on-line, from 21 to 25/September. Also, it was a "best of" conference, meaning that the community voted in the top rated topics of the previous editions, and we choose the top 5 sessions to be revisited.
As an on-line conference, the precious "networking" that usually happens among the attendees of a presential conference was missed but, in the other side, the conference was able to reach a bigger audience! I got several comments from people saying that they always wanted to participate, but the travelling costs were a blocking factor for them. This way, the 17th FDD broke some records: 700 attendees and the biggest value of donations to the Firebird Foundation ever collected - more than BRL 8K! Thank you all who contributed!
The news don't stop there! All attendees got a free copy of my Migration Guide to Firebird 3 eBook. Also, our longtime partner IBSurgeon offered free HQBird Std licenses to all the attendees! Most of the sponsors and supporters also offered special discounts in their products, only for the attendees. I would like to thank our sponsors IBSurgeon, IBExpert, uniGUI and DreamFactory, as well our supporters ACBr, Steema, Woll2Woll and FastReports.
Special thanks to our speakers Alexandre Benson Smith and Marcelo Daibert!
